Yellow Card announces a $40 million funding round to expand its global stablecoin payment network and digital payment infrastructure.

Yellow Card raises $40 million to expand stablecoin payment network globally

African stablecoin infrastructure company Yellow Card has raised $40 million in a new funding round as it looks to expand its payment network beyond Africa and strengthen its global stablecoin business.

The investment came from SC Ventures by Standard Chartered, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, Blockchain Capital, and several other strategic investors. The latest round brings Yellow Card’s total equity funding to more than $120 million, according to the company.

The company said it will use the new funding to grow its Global USD Accounts, a product that allows businesses to hold U.S. dollars, manage stablecoins and move money across borders through a single platform. It also plans to expand the stablecoin payment infrastructure connecting businesses to global markets while growing its presence in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Yellow Card was founded in 2019 and initially focused on helping individuals buy and sell cryptocurrency across Africa. Over the past few years, however, it has shifted its focus toward providing stablecoin infrastructure for businesses, banks and financial technology companies that need faster and cheaper cross-border payments.

The company says it has now processed more than $10 billion in transactions, supports over 50 currencies, and holds licences, registrations or authorisations across 22 jurisdictions in Africa, Europe and North America. Its customers include global companies such as Visa and Western Union, which use its infrastructure to move money across different markets.

The latest funding describes the  growing investor interest in stablecoin infrastructure. As more businesses adopt stablecoins for international payments, treasury management and settlement, investors are increasingly backing companies building the technology that powers those transactions rather than traditional cryptocurrency trading platforms.

Yellow Card said the new capital will help it connect more banks, fintech companies and enterprises to stablecoin payment rails, making it easier for businesses in emerging markets to access digital dollars and move money across borders more efficiently.
