Ripple is expanding GSmart, its AI-powered treasury platform, with new capabilities for cash forecasting, liquidity management, risk, reconciliation and financial reporting.
The company announced the expansion as it looks to bring AI deeper into corporate finance while keeping financial decisions subject to internal policies and human approval.
GSmart is already deployed across Ripple Treasury’s enterprise customer base. The latest update adds policy-governed AI agents designed to work with the financial data and workflows companies already use.
An important part of GSmart’s design is separating financial calculations from AI-generated analysis.
Deterministic engines handle calculations such as balance aggregation and other financial measurements, while the AI layer interprets the data, identifies patterns and explains its recommendations.
This approach is designed to reduce the risk of relying on an AI model for calculations where accuracy is critical.
Treasury teams can then review the recommendations before any financial action is taken.
GSmart adds policy-governed AI agents
The expansion introduces AI agents that can monitor treasury processes and recommend actions based on a company’s internal policies.
For example, an agent can identify a liquidity issue or reconciliation problem, suggest a response and point to the policy supporting that recommendation.
The proposed action then goes to an authorized human for approval rather than being executed automatically.
This gives companies a way to use AI for continuous monitoring and analysis without handing the system independent control over corporate funds. GSmart’s expanded capabilities cover several areas of corporate treasury.
These include cash forecasting, liquidity management, financial risk analysis, reconciliation and reporting. The platform also includes tools that allow treasury teams to query financial information using natural language.
Ripple said the system can identify anomalies and potential exposure issues while giving finance teams more visibility into their cash and financial positions.
The company is also extending GSmart across treasury operations involving both traditional financial assets and digital assets.
Ripple targets the AI governance gap
Ripple’s expansion comes as companies experiment with AI agents that can perform increasingly complex business tasks.
The company cited Gartner projections that the average Fortune 500 company could have more than 150,000 AI agents in use by 2028, while only 13% of organizations currently believe they have adequate AI-agent governance.
For treasury departments, the need for controls is particularly important because their systems manage cash, liquidity and financial risk.
GSmart’s policy-based approach is designed to give companies the benefits of AI analysis while keeping financial authority with human teams.
Ripple connects AI with its digital asset treasury strategy
The GSmart expansion also fits into Ripple’s wider treasury offering.
Earlier this year, Ripple Treasury added native digital asset capabilities to its platform. The company now wants corporate finance teams to manage traditional and digital assets through a single treasury system.
GSmart adds an AI layer that can analyze those financial positions, identify risks and provide recommendations while remaining subject to company-defined controls.
Rather than allowing an AI agent to independently move money, Ripple is positioning GSmart as an intelligence layer that helps treasury teams make decisions while keeping final authority with humans.
