Perplexity AI has launched a new tool called Perplexity Computer, an AI agent built to carry out everyday tasks on a user’s computer. The product is designed to move beyond chat-based answers and into practical work, such as researching topics, organising files, filling out simple forms, and preparing short reports.

Instead of relying on a single AI model, the agent coordinates up to 19 models in the background. Each model is used for what it does best. Some are stronger at reading and summarising long pages. Others are better at reasoning, writing, or handling structured data. The system routes each step of a task to the most suitable model, then brings the results together for the user.
