Nigerian Startup ClapMi Scores $20K Grant from Lisk to Power Web3 Live Streaming

Date:

Nigerian Web3 startup ClapMi has secured a USD 20,000 grant from blockchain firm Lisk following its successful completion of the Lisk x AYA HQ incubation programme. The funding will enable ClapMi to rapidly scale its live-streaming platform, where creators and fans earn rewards using blockchain-based mechanics.

Founded in Lagos, ClapMi is developing a hybrid Web2/Web3 platform where creators host “battles” and fans engage via “claps” that translate into tokenised rewards. Leveraging Lisk’s Layer 2 blockchain for fast, low-cost transactions, ClapMi aims to reward both creators and viewers within its community ecosystem.

ClapMi’s participation in the Lisk x AYA HQ Africa Incubation Hub , one of eight startups selected for Cohort 2 , was instrumental in securing the grant. The programme offers graduating participants financial support, mentorship, ecosystem access, and the opportunity to access up to USD 100,000 in further funding from Lisk’s emerging-markets fund.

In a celebratory announcement on social media, ClapMi stated:

“We are excited to share some big news ,we received USD 20,000 from AYA HQ incubation. The Lisk Africa x AYA HQ incubation win is more than a milestone for us; it’s a strong validation of our vision and the future we’re building.”

The timing of this grant is significant. With streaming consumption in Africa soaring and fan-economy models gaining traction, platforms that combine real-time engagement with tokenised rewards are attracting fresh interest. By building on Lisk’s blockchain infrastructure, ClapMi seeks to deliver a high-performance, low-fee experience tailored for African creators and audiences.

Lisk’s investment reinforces its strategic focus on emerging markets. The Swiss-based company has committed USD 15 million to support Web3 founders in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia, and runs regional incubation programmes in partnership with local hubs.

ClapMi’s next steps will include deepening live-streaming functionality, launching its rewards token system, and expanding its user base across Nigeria and beyond. As the broader African Web3 ecosystem evolves, this grant highlights how infrastructure providers and blockchain platforms are aligning with creator-economy opportunities on the continent.
