EthSystems launches to build private Ethereum tools

A group of former members of the Ethereum Foundation’s Institutional Privacy Task Force has launched EthSystems, a for-profit company focused on building privacy and confidentiality tools for institutional users on Ethereum.

The new company aims to help financial institutions, asset managers and enterprises use Ethereum without exposing sensitive transaction data on public blockchains. While transparency has long been one of Ethereum’s defining features, it has also been a hurdle for institutions that need to protect client information, trading strategies and commercially sensitive data.

EthSystems said it will develop infrastructure that allows organisations to transact on Ethereum while maintaining confidentiality and remaining compatible with the network’s security and decentralisation principles.

The launch marks a change for the team, which previously operated within the Ethereum Foundation as the Institutional Privacy Task Force. That initiative explored how Ethereum could meet the privacy requirements of regulated institutions without compromising the openness of the blockchain.

By spinning out into an independent company, the team hopes to accelerate product development and work more closely with financial institutions looking to bring real-world assets, payments and other financial applications on-chain.

The company plans to build tools around confidential transactions, identity, compliance and institutional-grade privacy. These products are expected to complement Ethereum’s growing role in tokenisation, stablecoins and blockchain-based financial markets, where banks and asset managers increasingly require privacy alongside regulatory compliance.

The launch comes as institutional adoption of Ethereum continues to grow. Over the past year, several global financial firms have expanded their use of Ethereum for tokenised funds, digital bonds and settlement infrastructure. At the same time, regulators and enterprise users have called for stronger privacy features that allow firms to meet legal obligations without revealing proprietary information on a public ledger.

Privacy has become one of Ethereum’s most active areas of research. Technologies such as zero-knowledge proofs and confidential computing are increasingly being explored as ways to protect transaction details while preserving the network’s transparency and security.

EthSystems said it intends to work closely with the broader Ethereum ecosystem rather than build a separate blockchain. Its focus will remain on developing infrastructure that enables institutions to use Ethereum more effectively while supporting the network’s long-term growth.

The company’s formation reflects a broader trend across the Ethereum ecosystem, where research initiatives that begin within non-profit organisations are increasingly evolving into independent businesses focused on commercial adoption. As more financial institutions explore blockchain technology, demand for enterprise-ready privacy tools is expected to continueOperation
