X has officially launched its Cashtag Partner Program in the United States, allowing users to move from stock and cryptocurrency discussions on the platform to trading through participating brokers and exchanges.
The new feature adds a “Trade” button to supported Cashtag pages, giving users a direct route to platforms such as Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo. Users can view market information on X before selecting a partner to complete their trades.
How X’s direct trading feature works
Cashtags are ticker symbols used on X to identify financial assets. Examples include $BTC for Bitcoin and $TSLA for Tesla.
When users search for or tap a supported Cashtag, they can view price information, charts and related posts about the asset. The new Trade button allows them to select one of X’s participating trading partners.
After choosing a platform, users are redirected to the partner’s website or application. Existing customers can access their trading accounts, while new users may be directed to a registration page for eligible financial products.
The actual transaction takes place through the selected broker or exchange, not directly on X. The partner remains responsible for account verification, order execution, custody and other trading requirements.
Five brokers and exchanges join the launch
X’s initial US trading partners include three cryptocurrency exchanges and two traditional brokerage platforms.
- Coinbase: Provides access to supported cryptocurrency markets.
- Kraken: Offers cryptocurrency trading through its exchange infrastructure.
- Gemini: Connects users to supported digital asset services.
- Interactive Brokers: Provides access to stocks, ETFs and other eligible financial products.
- Moomoo: Offers brokerage services, market information and trading tools.
The available assets and services differ across the partners. Users must also meet the account, eligibility and jurisdictional requirements of the selected platform.
The launch connects X’s financial content with external trading platforms.
Users often encounter discussions about stocks, cryptocurrencies and market movements through posts and replies. By placing a Trade option alongside asset information, X allows users to move from researching an asset to accessing a platform where they can place an order.
However, the feature does not mean that X has become a brokerage or cryptocurrency exchange. The platform acts as the entry point, while its partners manage the financial transactions.
X has not disclosed the commercial terms of the partnerships, including whether it receives referral payments or shares revenue with participating platforms.
The feature is currently available in the US
The Cashtag Partner Program is currently focused on US users. Access to specific assets and trading services depends on the user’s location, account type and the products offered by each partner.
X has not announced a timeline for expanding the program beyond the United States or confirmed when additional brokers and exchanges will join.
The company has been developing financial features around its social platform, and the Cashtag program gives it a way to connect market information and online conversations with external trading services.
For now, users can discover supported assets on X and use the new Trade button to access participating platforms, while the actual buying and selling remains with the selected broker or exchange.
